What is the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics?
Descriptive statistics summarise your data, using measures such as averages, percentages and standard deviations, along with charts. Inferential statistics use your sample to draw conclusions about a wider population, through tests such as t-tests, chi-square or regression that show whether a pattern is likely to be real rather than chance.
