How does university marking work in the UK?
Most UK universities mark undergraduate work on a scale where 70 and above is a first, 60 to 69 a 2:1, 50 to 59 a 2:2 and 40 to 49 a third, although some use different bands. Marks are awarded against published criteria, so your rubric shows what each band requires.
Once you have revised, proofreading and editing can polish the language. Our writers page explains how specialists are selected.
